These good folk were almost certainly not Tamils. The majority people in Sri Lanka are the indigenous Sinhalese. The Tamils migrated eons ago from states in southern India such as Tamil Nadu. The two groups have been fighting each other in Sri Lanka ever since. We can disagree with the Tamil's terrorist methods while still acknowledging the crappy treatment that they have historically received from the Sinhalese.
