A question from Torontonian Jazakum Allahu Khayran as posted on IslamOnline:

I'm currently a police officer in Toronto, Canada.  It was brought to my attention that by me being a police officer, I'm going against the Shari`ah by putting a manmade law first and enforcing it.

Also, by me enforcing manmade laws, I'm going against one of the basic principles of tawheed [Arabic for: Oneness of Allah; monotheism according to Islamic teachings], basically by going against some of Almighty Allah's sacred names such as the Judge and the Legislator and He — not people — is the only one who can legislate.

Sheikh Ahmad Kutty from the Islamic Institute of Toronto steps up to the plate with a reply and also cleverly sidesteps the fact that Sharia Law was written by men to begin with.
