There are, er, enemies within.  Really:

Toronto man admits to terror plot in surprise plea

Saad Khalid pleads guilty to one count of participating in terrorist organization's plots against targets in Toronto

A young Toronto man – Saad Khalid – has pleaded guilty to aiding a terrorist plot to build bombs to explode in the city's downtown core. In a dramatic and sudden move, Mr. Khalid became the first adult from amongst the so-called Toronto 18 to admit playing a role in a plot that was allegedly inspired by al-Qaeda and intended to create international publicity for the terrorist cause.

The dramatic development took place on Monday morning in a near-empty Brampton, Ont., courtroom. It was so sudden and cloaked in secrecy that the courtroom was empty but for one reporter and four apparent family members of supporters – including a middle-aged woman who wept as Mr. Khalid was led away after his plea.

Mr. Khalid pleaded guilty to a single count of participating in a terrorist organization, “with the intention of causing an explosion or explosions that were likely to cause serious bodily harm or death,” or to damage property. The charge specifies that Mr. Khalid was acting in support of other conspirators whose names are subject to a ban on publication...

Just remember "...the biggest elephant in the room".

Perhaps not surprising but the mop and pail have shut down comments on this story.

A fine example of politically correct writing. No mention of "the religion of peace" and in the opening paragraph this plot is downplayed to a publicity stunt...Those wacky jihadists, what will they do next? ...Maybe attack a wedding and kill 44 people. This happened yesterday in Turkey. The disgruntled family herded all the women and children into a room and then opened up with their weapons, but here in Canada we don't need to know the details.Otherwise, the next Maclean's poll may show a rise in the number of Canadians who think that Islam is inherently violent, and we wouldn't want that, would we? Then again a show called 'Little Slaughterhouse on the Praries" would probably get more viewers.

But how could this be? The left has told us that it was all a figment of our imagination, and they were but blundering fools, or these charges were trumped up by the evil Harper govt.

He only plead guilty to cut a deal for a light sentence, just like happens on "Law and Order" all the time.

The fact that he was guilty made it that much easier to plead "guilty".

Let's hope this young man's rehabilitation in the Canadian Corrections System begins immediately, and he's soon walking the streets of Canada, a free and changed man.
